The Bilkent Quantum Computing and Topology (BilQCT) group, led by Assistant Professor Cihan Okay in the Department of Mathematics at Bilkent University, is seeking a Research Software Engineer to help build fast and reliable software for simulation and benchmarking in quantum computing.
Prior knowledge of quantum computing is not required (though it is valued); the central requirement is strong scientific programming and the ability to implement algorithms from technical sources (e.g., papers, notes, and group discussions) in close collaboration with group members.
The work is primarily algorithmic scientific software development: implementing and testing computational routines in a scientific programming environment (e.g., Python or Julia). Experience with performance-oriented development (e.g., C/C++ and/or HPC environments) is valued.

The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance, conduct, and funding availability. The selected candidate will receive a competitive salary and private health insurance. A travel allowance and furnished housing on campus may also be offered, subject to availability.
